Subject: [htdig3-dev] Using Ht://Dig in french
Hello,
So as to use Ht://Dig on a web site that talks french, I have gathered the
files and informations to get Ht://Dig to work with the french language and
its accents. As some people asked me how I did it, I made a web page where
I explain it and where they can download the files (dictionary, affix,
bad_words, configuration parameters). I'm still looking for a synonyms
file, but there is no hurry since Ht://Dig works well without it.
I tell you that, so that you can eventually put a link towards it and/or
store the add-on file on your server. The add-on file (htdig-fr.tar.gz)
contains:
- htdig.conf with parameters for french language
- french dictionary and affix files compiled from the IREQ ispell dictionary
- bad_words file made by me using empirical methods
- an empty synonyms file which is better than a wrong one
- the HTML templates translated in french
- a page of instructions in french
The page where I explain it is:
http://www.quartier-rural.org/dl/elucu/htdig-vf/lisezmoi.html
You can download the add-on file at:
http://www.quartier-rural.org/dl/elucu/htdig-vf/htdig-fr.tar.gz
Whenever I'll get a synonyms file for french langage, I'll add it to the
file I tell you.
Cheers,

Subject: htdig-fr (kit de francisation)
Hello,
Since I released the first version of the htdig-fr kit, I got a bit of
feedback and made a few improvements, resulting in a new version of the kit:
Improvements:
- what to do with the english *.db files
- a rundig script including the french files names
- htdig.conf and *.html files strictly identical to the english originals,
apart from the french texts (the previous ones were slightly modified)
- a tar.gz file including the directory name and a version number in
conformity with Linux packages standards
I have modified the files on my own site and replaced the old file by a
symbolic link towards the new file name (htdig-fr.tar.gz ->
htdig-fr-1.01.tar.gz). You can download the new file at:
http://www.quartier-rural.org/dl/elucu/htdig-vf/htdig-fr-1.01.tar.gz

Subject: htdig-fr update
Hello,
As I have been getting feedback and answered questions from french users, I
have brought a few mofifications to the "kit de francisation". The new
version is available on my site:
http://www.quartier-rural.org/dl/elucu/htdig-vf/htdig-fr-1.02.tar.gz
This time, I have been careful at saving the files undex Unix format and
keeping the permissions as they are in Ht://Dig distribution.

Hello,
Somebody (Stephane Marzloff) has contributed a Perl script to the "kit de
francisation". It builds a synonyms dictionnary from db.wordlist where the
words with accents have their equivalent without accent. I have introduced
a line in rundig so as to execute this script whenever it is present.
This new version is available on my site:
http://www.quartier-rural.org/dl/elucu/htdig-vf/htdig-fr-1.03.tar.gz

Thanks for the information. I'll try to apply the patch and see how it
behaves, but I don't have much time to do that actually. So I'll leave the
actual htdig-fr-1.03 as it is with Stephane's script until I find enough
time to test Robert's patch and build another version including it. I've
just added a comment in my lisezmoi.html with a link to
"ftp://sol.ccsf.cc.ca.us/htdig-patches/3.1.5/accents.5" for those who want
to try it as it is.
Cheers,
